Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Simulator
Quad-core ARM Linux and GPIO, no SD card
Simulate a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B online. Python scripts drive LEDs, relays and I2C sensors on the canvas; a QEMU guest with four Cortex-A7 cores gives you a terminal.

Raspberry Pi 2 Model B at a glance
The Pi 2 is where the family went multi-core and it is still common in automation boxes and thermostats. On Velxio the board keeps its 32-bit quad-core profile in the Linux guest, its 40-pin header on the canvas, and the smbus2 and gpiozero libraries that drive relays and sensors from Python.

What you can do with the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B simulator
The board on the canvas is the real thing as far as your code is concerned: the same pins, the same buses, the same peripherals, wired to the same 100+ sensors, displays and actuators every other Velxio board talks to.
Python 3 with the real libraries
RPi.GPIO, gpiozero, smbus2, spidev and pyserial work as they do on the bench. Scripts start in seconds on the in-browser engine; third-party packages come from a requirements.txt.
GPIO, PWM and ADC
Drive LEDs, relays and servos, read buttons and potentiometers, dim with PWM. Every pin follows the board's real pin map, so what works here works on the hardware.
I2C, SPI and UART
Talk to OLEDs, IMUs, ADCs, RTCs and SD cards over the buses the board really has. Bus traffic runs through emulated peripherals, not through a shortcut.
A Linux shell when you need one
Linux mode boots an Alpine guest under QEMU on our servers with a real terminal and python3. It is not Raspberry Pi OS: no apt, no desktop, no network from inside the guest.
Multi-board canvas
Mix this board with an Arduino, an ESP32 or a Pico on the same canvas and let them talk over serial or I2C, each running its own firmware.
Try it before you subscribe
A free account gets three 15-minute trial sessions on this board family; every run inside a session is free. Unlimited runs are part of the Maker and Pro plans and of Velxio Desktop.

[Pi 2B] Thermostat: BMP280 over I2C and a relayA real control loop: read the temperature from a BMP280 on the header I2C bus with smbus2, and switch a relay on below the setpoint and off above it, with hysteresis so it does not chatter. Drag the sensor slider while it runs and watch the relay follow.
[Pi 2] I2C character LCD (PCF8574 backpack) with RPLCDA Raspberry Pi 2 writes to a 16x2 LCD through its PCF8574 I2C backpack, the four-wire module most kits ship, using RPLCD. Two wires of data instead of six, the same write_string calls.

Frequently asked questions
- What runs in the Pi 2's Linux mode?
- An Alpine Linux guest under QEMU with a 32-bit ARM Cortex-A7 profile, a real shell and python3. It is not Raspberry Pi OS: there is no apt, no desktop and no network inside the guest. Packages come from a requirements.txt in your project.
- Can I control a relay and read a temperature sensor from the same script?
- Yes. The gallery's thermostat example reads a BMP280 over I2C with smbus2 and switches a relay from gpiozero, on this exact board.
- Does the Pi 2 need a paid plan?
- Building and saving the circuit is free. Running it uses the Raspberry Pi trial (three 15-minute sessions on a free account), then the Maker or Pro plan.
- Is the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B simulator free?
- Partly. You can build and save a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B circuit with any account, and a free account gets three 15-minute trial sessions to run it; every run inside a session is free. Unlimited runs boot a Linux guest on our servers, so they are part of the Maker and Pro plans, or of Velxio Desktop with a paid licence.
- Which languages can I use on the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B?
- Python 3. The language is switched from the toolbar; the circuit on the canvas stays the same.
