XIAO RP2040 at a glance
The XIAO RP2040 is the Pico's chip in the XIAO footprint with an addressable RGB LED on the board, which is why its examples are about colour rather than about a single blinking pin. RP2040 code ports across from the Pico; what changes is how many pins come out, and the canvas draws the board with Seeed's labels.

What you can do with the XIAO RP2040 simulator
The board on the canvas is the real thing as far as your code is concerned: the same pins, the same buses, the same peripherals, wired to the same 100+ sensors, displays and actuators every other Velxio board talks to.
On-board RGB LED
The addressable LED on the board lights on the canvas, so colour and status projects need no wiring at all.
Arduino C++ sketches
Write a sketch in the Monaco editor with library completion, compile it against the board's own Arduino core and run the real firmware binary. The Serial Monitor is the USB port.
MicroPython
Switch the board to MicroPython from the toolbar and run main.py against the same circuit. Drivers are plain .py files in the workspace, copied onto the board's filesystem before your script starts.
GPIO, PWM and ADC
Drive LEDs, relays and servos, read buttons and potentiometers, dim with PWM. Every pin follows the board's real pin map, so what works here works on the hardware.
I2C, SPI and UART
Talk to OLEDs, IMUs, ADCs, RTCs and SD cards over the buses the board really has. Bus traffic runs through emulated peripherals, not through a shortcut.
Serial Monitor
USB CDC serial reaches the Serial Monitor at the sketch's baud rate, with input, timestamps and a plotter.
XIAO footprint
The thumbnail-sized XIAO pinout: D0 to D10 with the I2C, SPI and UART pads where every XIAO has them, so projects move between XIAO boards with a pin map check.
SPICE analog parts
Op-amps, transistors, regulators and passives simulate in real time with ngspice in the browser; the board's pins drive them and read the solved voltages back.

XIAO RP2040: BlinkBlink an external LED on D0 (GPIO26) of the Seeed Studio XIAO RP2040 - runs on the in-browser rp2040js engine.
XIAO RP2040: on-board RGB LEDCycle the Seeed Studio XIAO RP2040 on-board user RGB LED (red=GPIO17, green=GPIO16, blue=GPIO25, active-LOW). No wiring needed - the LED is on the board.
XIAO RP2040: button cycles the on-board RGBA pushbutton on D1 (GPIO27, active-LOW with the internal pull-up) steps the on-board user RGB LED through red, green, blue and off. Click the button while running - the LED is on the board, no LED wiring needed.
XIAO RP2040: traffic lightA three-LED traffic light on D0/D1/D2 (GPIO26/27/28) of the Seeed Studio XIAO RP2040: green, a yellow warning, red, and back - the classic sequencing exercise on the in-browser rp2040js engine.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the RGB LED on the XIAO RP2040 work?
- Yes. The WS2812 on the board lights on the canvas, so the traffic-light and colour examples need no wiring at all.
- Can I run Raspberry Pi Pico code on the XIAO RP2040?
- Yes. Same chip, same cores. Check the pin map: the XIAO brings out eleven GPIOs, so a Pico sketch that used more needs a pin change.
- Is MicroPython supported?
- Yes. Switch the board to MicroPython from the toolbar and run main.py against the same circuit.
- Is the XIAO RP2040 simulator free?
- Yes. The XIAO RP2040 runs on the free plan: open the editor, place the board and press Run. No install and no account are needed, and Velxio's editor and simulator core are open source under the GNU AGPLv3.
- Which languages can I use on the XIAO RP2040?
- Arduino C++, MicroPython. The language is switched from the toolbar; the circuit on the canvas stays the same.
